From Diving to Solitude: The Best Beaches in Egypt

Egypt boasts many stunning beaches to suit every taste.

Egypt is one of the most popular destinations for winter vacations among tourists. Although the Egyptian seas may be cool for swimming during this period, this does not stop Ukrainians who are tired of our cold and gloomy winters.

Experts from the world’s largest travel publisher, Lonely Planet, have named eight beaches in Egypt that tourists should definitely pay attention to.

“Perhaps the most remarkable feature of Egyptian beaches is how the sun-scorched sands of the desert suddenly give way to bottle-blue lagoons and vibrant coral reefs that burst into life as soon as you put on your mask and snorkel. It’s no wonder that Egypt is considered one of the best places in the world for scuba diving and snorkeling,” the authors note.

At the same time, they emphasize that Egypt makes full use of its stunning coastline, with numerous seafood restaurants, spas, diving centers, and luxurious resorts along the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, offering the perfect combination of sun, sea, and sand dunes.

8 best beaches in Egypt

  1. Almaza Bay, Marsa Matruh – for a luxurious vacation.
  2. The Blue Lagoon, Dahab, is a popular destination for water sports.
  3. El Alamein, the North Coast, is for a glamorous vacation.
  4. Naama Bay, Sharm El Sheikh, is a great place for families.
  5. Fjord Bay, Taba – for escaping the crowds.
  6. Mahmeya Island, Hurghada – for snorkeling and dolphin watching.
  7. Al-Najzak, Marsa Alam – for swimming and rocky landscapes.
  8. Private beaches in Alexandria are for club vacations.

What else to do in Egypt in winter

Although winter in Egypt and winter in Europe are different things (in January-February, the daytime temperature in Egyptian resorts reaches +20…+23 degrees), not all tourists risk spending their days lounging on the beaches and swimming in the sea.

However, these temperatures and a more gentle sun than during the hot summer months also allow tourists to comfortably explore the famous Egyptian pyramids and deserts.

The pyramids of Giza, the ancient city of Luxor, the Library of Alexandria, and a Nile cruise are just a few of the excursions that are much easier to take in the winter than in the summer.
