A stunning Indian Ocean paradise is described as being as beautiful as the Maldives, but with hardly any tourists. This is reported by the Daily Express.
Reunion Island is an overseas territory of France, part of the Mascarene Islands in the Indian Ocean.
Located to the east of Madagascar, it was named by Business Insider magazine as one of the world’s most beautiful islands going unnoticed. Vacation rental website HomeToGo described it as a “fantastic alternative to the popular Maldives,” an archipelago off the coast of India.
It is noted that the island’s population is 873,000 people, who predominantly speak the Reunion Creole language, despite the fact that French is the official language. Reunion is formed in the west by Mount Salazie, an extinct volcano, and in the east by Mount Grand Brull, which is home to the active volcano, Piton de la Fournaise.
Michel Karam, CEO of müvTravel, described Reunion Island as “one of the most unusual paradises on the planet.” He said:
“The island is known for its volcanic, tropical forests, coral reefs, and beaches.”

Hermitage Beach is the island’s most extensive and well-preserved lagoon and a popular snorkeling spot. It is a pristine white sandy beach surrounded by casuarina trees, where locals often enjoy picnics.
It is noted that Vieux Port in Saint-Philippe is a green sandy beach made up of tiny olivine crystals, formed by a 2007 lava flow, making it one of the youngest beaches on Earth.
“But the cities on the outskirts of the island are also worth visiting, with their restaurants, museums, and attractions. Most of the settlements are located on the outskirts of the island, and only one road crosses the center of the country, which is 100 kilometers by 60 kilometers,” the article states.
