The winter sun can be found both in Europe and beyond.
In winter, many residents of the cooler parts of Europe look for ways to warm up, whether it’s by traveling to distant destinations or staying closer to home.
Where is it warm in winter in Europe
Many European tourists prefer to search for the winter sun within their own continent, as it takes less time to travel, and with a large number of low-cost flights, they can plan their trip independently without the need for a tour operator.
However, alas, most of Europe is cold in winter, so there are few options to warm up. But even those that are there can not be called too hot – the maximum can be counted on +20°C. Yes, it is much warmer than in Ukraine in December-February, but it may still not be enough for swimming in the sea or ocean. However, for comfortable walks, this will definitely be enough.
If we talk about specific destinations, in Europe, you can expect warmth and sunshine in winter in Cyprus, Gibraltar, Portuguese Madeira, and the Spanish Canary Islands:
- Gran Canaria;
- Lanzarote;
- Tenerife.
All of them offer an average winter temperature of +15°C…+18°C in December, with six hours of sunshine per day, according to The Independent.
Where is it warm in winter outside of Europe
If you want to experience higher temperatures, you’ll need to travel to other continents, which can take more than 10 days and may require assistance from tour operators.
The closest destination for tourists will be Egypt, where winter is considered a calmer and cooler season compared to the scorching hot summer. For example, in Hurghada, the average temperature in December is +21.5°C, with seven hours of sunshine per day.
Much more sun can be seen on the other side of the African continent – in Cape Town (South Africa), with an average December temperature of +22°C, you can count on 11 hours of sunshine per day.
The following destinations are also suitable for a sunny winter vacation:
- Bangkok, Thailand (average winter temperature +27°C, nine sunny days).
- Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (average winter temperature +27°C, eight sunny days).
- Barbados (average winter temperature +26°C, nine sunny days).
- Buenos Aires, Argentina (average winter temperature +25°C, nine sunny days).
