This French town in the Alps has been compared to Venice for its medieval architecture and picturesque canals.

A group of travel agents called eShores named a similar destination for traveling – in the French Alps. The small town of Annecy, which stretches there, for some reason remains ignored by tourists, but it also takes your breath away, writes Express.
This city offers the same magical charm by the water as Venice in Italy. But you will also enjoy an impressive mountain panorama that takes your breath away. You can walk around the old town, as well as along the crystal clear lake. And you won’t have to push through crowds of tourists and empty your wallet while traveling to Annecy.
Experts recommend visiting the city’s impressive canals and weekly markets, where local artisans showcase traditional Savoyard crafts and delicacies.
Hotels in Annecy are much cheaper than in Venice. You can stay there for about 30-40 pounds per night (1600-2100 UAH).
Meals in Annecy are also more affordable. You will spend 5 pounds (270 UAH) less per person than in Venice.
Visitors to the pearl of the French Alps sang the city’s praises on Reddit:
“I went in 2019. The old town is wonderful, and it’s a lot of fun just to wander around it. The lakeside park is also very nice, ” the user wrote.
“The surrounding landscape is incredible-all around the perimeter of the lake. At the southern end of the lake, there is a beautiful nature reserve with manicured hiking trails and elevated paths, ” another post reads.
“I spent a few days in Annecy last summer, and this is by far the most breathtakingly beautiful place I’ve ever seen,” said one visitor to the French town.
