There is a small town in Spain that has the best snacks in Europe. What else makes it special

One of the most popular activities in this city is enjoying culinary masterpieces.

When it comes to holidays in Spain, the first cities that come to mind are Barcelona, Madrid, Seville or Valencia. This country is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe, so you may want to visit more than just the typical sunny cities, writes Mirror.

According to experts, there is one city in Spain that is worth knowing about, and that is Logroño. In particular, Time Out has recognized it as the most underrated city in the country and a popular destination for tasting the best tapas (a famous Spanish appetizer) on the continent.

It is noted that this city is the capital of the famous wine-growing region of La Rioja, which is located south of San Sebastian in the Basque Country (an autonomous community in Spain, on the coast of the Bay of Biscay).

“One of the most popular activities here is to enjoy the culinary masterpieces offered by the many restaurants located along the picturesque streets of Logroño,” the Mirror adds.

Tourists are also amazed by the traditional architecture of the city, with its ancient gates and an incredible cathedral adding to its charm. Additionally, the Plaza del Mercado in the old town is considered one of the best places to enjoy food and drinks.

“History buffs will enjoy Muralla del Revellin, once a walled city, where they can explore the remains of medieval walls and the ancient arch that served as the entrance to the city,” the Express adds.

It is known that the parliament and government of La Rioja are also located in the old city, so if you are interested in architectural monuments, do not forget to visit the Church of San Bartolomé and Calle Portales, which was built in the 15th century.

“La Rioja remains one of the most popular wine tourism destinations, with 748,345 visitors in 2022, a 62% increase from 2021. Tourism is estimated to generate €155 million annually for the local economy,” according to Mirror.
