While most European tourists crowd the crowded beaches of Spain, the continent is full of “hidden gems” that are as beautiful and well-developed as the world-famous resorts. The only difference is that there are significantly fewer tourists.
A British travel blogger named Scott, who has traveled all over Europe and visited dozens of cities, has revealed which cities he believes are the most underrated by tourists. He posted his top 6 on his Instagram. These cities are:
Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The city is best known for its iconic Old Bridge, which is a reconstructed structure dating back to the Middle Ages during the Ottoman Empire. Scott describes it as “the most breathtaking World Heritage site.
Annecy, France. This traveler calls this city “the Alpine Venice” with “stunning cobblestone streets and perfect lakes.”
Ksamil, Albania. The traveler describes it as “a European Maldives on a budget” with “the most beautiful coastline”. Here is the Albanian Butrinti National Park, where the water is really crystal clear.
Bled, Slovenia. According to Scott, this place is “a real fairy tale”. He calls it “one of the most peaceful places in the world.” The traveler adds that this is “the most incredible place with mirror lakes.” Bled is best known for its lake, which has an island with the picturesque Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on it.
Tivat, Montenegro. A British traveler calls it “a budget version of Monaco,” adding that this “most luxurious place” has “so much to see and do.”
Ljubljana, Slovenia. Scott claims it’s “the cleanest, safest” and “most incredible place” without the crowds of tourists. He adds that it is “a real hidden gem that you should definitely visit.”
