The best secret beaches in Europe where you can hide from the crowds of tourists

Even in popular countries like Italy, Croatia, or France, you can find untouched hidden gems.

Traditionally, during the summer season, crowds of vacationers flock to the most famous beaches in Europe such as the island of Zakynthos. However, there are still many wonderful beach destinations across the continent where you won’t have to lie on top of each other.

Experts from the influential publication about tourism and entertainment Time Out have compiled a list of the best secret beaches throughout Europe, where you can avoid crowds of tourists. Some of them are located in such popular countries as Italy, Croatia, France or Spain.

The top spot was taken by Zavala Beach, one of the best beaches on the island of Hvar in Croatia. Although the island has become increasingly popular among tourists in recent years, places like the small fishing village of Zavala, which stretches from the sea to the hills, are still relatively peaceful.Video of the dayPlay Video

“The lack of amenities in Zavala is offset by its natural beauty. It is also the starting point for excursions to neighboring Šcedro, a virtually uninhabited island that offers some of the best swimming spots in Croatia.
