The traveler is convinced that traveling in Western Europe is not as safe as traveling in the eastern part of the continent.
Eastern and Central Europe is, on average, significantly safer for solo-tourists than Western Europe. Although there are also its own exceptions. This is reported by DailyMail with reference to a traveler from the Netherlands named Luke Patrick Hoogmoed.
Luke likes to travel alone and has visited almost all the countries in Europe. In fact, he has visited most of them several times. Recently, he shared his thoughts on Instagram about which country on the continent he personally considers to be the safest based on his own travel experiences.
“I’ve visited almost every country in Europe many times, so my opinion is not based on a single good or bad trip to a particular country,” he said.
The list provided by Luke is dominated by countries in Central and Eastern Europe. The traveler does not consider this to be a coincidence.
“Eastern Europe is much safer than Western Europe. Especially the large cities in Western and Northern Europe are not as safe as one might expect,” he said.
In the Dutchman’s experience, Eastern European cities are usually ” incredibly safe, clean and friendly to travelers.” And among all the countries in the region, he puts Poland in the first place. However, Luke also considers Denmark and Portugal to be safe enough.
In general, the top ten safest countries in Europe, according to the traveler, are as follows:
- Poland
- Denmark
- Hungary
- Finland
- Czech Republic
- Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Slovenia
- Serbia
- Portugal
- Romania
