Sicily in April: Why now is the best time to visit this incredible island

In spring, Italian Sicily welcomes tourists with mild weather and no crowds.

The Italian island of Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, separated from the Italian mainland by the Strait of Messina.

Every year, millions of tourists visit Sicily, attracted by the warm climate, spacious sea beaches and a huge number of historical monuments.

Spring is also ideal for visiting Sicily, because then the island still has comfortable weather (the average daily temperature in March is +15 degrees, in April +19 degrees, in May +24 degrees).

At the same time, if it rains quite often in March, then in April and May their number is much less.

At the same time, there are still no summer crowds of tourists in Sicily in spring, because it is still too early for swimming (you can start diving in the sea closer to the end of May, but this is only for the brave). In addition, school children and students are still studying, and therefore family vacationers are not yet filling the local beaches and streets.

In addition, in the spring of Sicily, many bright festivals are held.

And Sicily will be a great place for those tourists who like to eat delicious food. Despite the unstable water supply, agriculture is one of the most important economic resources in the region. Cereals are actively grown here, including wheat, one of the most valuable types of “hard grain”, from which the best varieties of pasta are produced.

Also in Sicily, olives, persimmons, exotic fruits (including kiwis, bananas, mangoes) and nuts (pistachios, almonds) are grown in large quantities.

In addition, wine-making and beekeeping are developed in Sicily.

Palermo is considered the capital of Sicily, but tourists also actively visit Catania and Syracuse.

Both cities are seaside, so you can visit them all year round – even if the weather is not suitable for swimming, you can walk along the embankment and enjoy fresh seafood in the portside restaurants.
