Montecatini Terme

A resort known worldwide for its balneological sanatoriums. The first acquaintance with Montecatini Terme is best done by taking a special carriage ride through the streets of the Old Town, which amazes with Art Nouveau buildings adorned with plaques bearing the names of world celebrities.
The main street of the city, named after the composer Verdi who loved to relax here, is notable for its picturesque park, theater, elegant Town Hall building, and luxurious resort establishments. The city has 8 springs, 5 of which are drinking, beneficial for treating liver, kidney, and gastrointestinal diseases.

The cost will include, in addition to hotel accommodation, a doctor’s consultation, several mud treatments, medical insurance, and breakfasts.

A small town located halfway between Rome and Naples, spread near Mount Ernici. The old center of the town rises on oak, maple, chestnut, linden, and pine groves, earning the reputation of one of the best balneological resorts in the country. The town produces mineral water recognized worldwide for its healing properties.
Fiuggi Terme is spread out in a luxurious valley surrounded by the most beautiful landscapes in the Apennines. Containing a minimum of mineral salts, the water frees the kidneys from stones, treats urinary tract diseases, gout, and arthritis. The popular hydrothermal complexes Boniface VIII, treating urological diseases, and Anticolana, specializing in otolaryngology, are equipped with modern facilities, convenient for people with disabilities.
Tourists wishing to simply relax can experience the magical effects of saunas, spa treatments, pools, and solariums in the wellness center of any major hotel. A stay in Fiuggi will be remembered for the beauty of the mountain landscapes, relaxation, and fishing on the forest lake Canterno, and visiting the Selva-di-Paliano reserve, where you can enjoy the sight of graceful swans, pelicans, ostriches, and cranes.
True gourmets will enjoy the tastiest cheeses, the best sausages, ham, local trout, and Cesanese Piglio wine in the Lazio region.

There are 7 thermal springs in Bormio and its surroundings. Amazingly, the temperature of the water in them changes at different times of the year: in winter, the water is warmer than in summer.
Local water treats the digestive organs, genitourinary system, and musculoskeletal system. The water is effective for metabolic disorders, improves the condition of diabetes, and restores damaged skin. The city has two paid complexes: “Bagni Vecchi” with a unique pool located in an ancient Roman tunnel, and “Bagni Nuovi.” They are equipped with saunas, hydromassage, and outdoor pools.
You can relax for free, enjoying the relaxation in thermal water in unity with nature, in the free Leonardo pool located in the forest. In Bormio, near the thermal baths, there are more than 30 hotels of 4 and 5 class, many of which have their wellness centers. Treatment can be combined with active recreation by playing golf, horseback riding, and hiking in the mountains.
History enthusiasts will be captivated by visiting the city museum, walking through the Old Center with buildings decorated with medieval frescoes and carved doors, and old fountains with water from mountain springs. The resort is famous for herbal drinks “Braulio” from Alpine herbs, strong grape drink “Grappa,” and beer, allowing you to relax after procedures and skiing.
Monsummano Terme

The town of Monsummano became famous in the mid-19th century when the famous Italian poet Giuseppe Giusti discovered a healing grotto with stalactites and stalagmites filled with a thermal lake on his estate. The grotto is divided into three zones named: Hell, where the air humidity reaches 100%, Purgatory with a beautiful warm +36⁰C Limbo lake, and Paradise. Diving enthusiasts can dive into the lake and meditate underwater.
Near the spring, the owner built a luxurious hotel Grotta Giusti 5*. Some of its rooms were equipped with baths filled with thermal water. Over the years, the hotel has been supplemented with a chic spa center with departments for diagnostics, dietology, therapeutic massage, and Eastern medicine. It became the only hotel organizing free visits to the springs in the grotto. The grotto’s microclimate together with the water effectively treats asthma and bronchitis.
The water in the cave positively affects the joints, bones, cardiovascular system, skin, and metabolism. After therapeutic procedures in Monsummano Terme, you can go cycling, horseback riding, or play tennis. In a city with a history dating back to the 11th century, there are many old churches and beautiful mansions, the house-museum of the poet Giuseppe Giusti. Near the resort, it is interesting to visit neighboring cities: Lucca, Pisa, Florence, and Carrara.
Saturnia Thermal Springs

Located in the small town of the same name in southern Tuscany, they are among the best thermal complexes in the country. The view of the famous hot waterfalls Mulino – “grooved waterfalls” and “mill waterfalls” opens to guests already on the way to the city, causing a desire to quickly experience the life-giving power of the water stream.
Saturnia gained fame as the largest thermal baths with free entry. Its rich sulfate-alkaline water with hydrogen sulfide gases, heated to +37.5⁰C and “thermal plankton,” has been breaking through the earth’s surface from a depth of 200 meters for several millennia. It is beneficial for joint diseases, stomach, intestines, circulation, and respiratory organs.
Bathing in the waterfalls and the hot Stellata river is accompanied by natural hydromassage created by the strong current. Qualified medical treatment can be obtained at the paid wellness complex “Terme di Saturnia,” awarded many world prizes. The Institute of Thermal Medicine and Cosmetology, a modern spa, and a hotel included in the complex are located near the free thermal baths.
For hotel guests, the package of therapeutic procedures in the thermal baths is available for free, while others will have to pay a little more than 20€ for a day pass. Bathing does not stop regardless of the time of year, providing extraordinary vigor and spiritual upliftment.
Petriolo Thermal Springs

The thermal baths of the Petriolo resort, spread over the expanses of the Tuscan valley near the Siena and Farma rivers, are located in an old park covering more than 100 hectares. The unique microclimate, beautiful panoramic views of the Maremma hills, and hot springs serve as a real balm for the body and soul. The main therapeutic component is mineral water at a temperature of +43°C, which heals the respiratory tract, heart, blood vessels, and nervous system.
The local water, with antiseptic properties, accelerates the healing of wounds, helps restore the skin after surgeries, and cures skin diseases. The thermal baths are unique in that they allow switching from hot to cold water, thanks to the nearby Farma river. The contrast in temperatures positively affects blood circulation and makes the skin beautiful and elastic.
Numerous paid spa salons and mud therapy clinics at the resort offer inhalation sessions, hydro and aero massages, and breathing exercises. They have developed special rejuvenation, beauty, and mental balance programs. Relaxing here is an opportunity to improve health with miraculous waters, healing air, and the powerful energy of the earth.
Bagni San Filippo

These thermal baths, located in the small village of Pienza on the outskirts of the Val d’Orcia valley, are called fabulous by tourists, striking with the view of a frozen waterfall. The limestone stream creates associations with a snowy mountain. People relaxing in the hot water get a thrilling sensation that winter reigns around.
This natural wonder with a complex is located near the D’Orcia Castle and is also known as the “white pit” or “white whale waterfall.” A chain of hot springs forms a series of pools filled with flowing milky turquoise water. The pristine natural landscape, life-giving water containing sulfur, magnesium, and calcium, which allows you to forget about many diseases, has included Bagni San Filippo among the best free thermal baths.
The spa complex “San Filippo,” which has a thermal swimming pool with a temperature of +40⁰C, a hotel with a restaurant, and a wellness center, provides paid medical and cosmetic services. Healing mud and mineral water from local springs are effectively used in various procedures in treatment and cosmetology.
Masse Thermal Springs in San Sisto

The Masse Thermal Springs, which have made the town of San Sisto famous, located near Viterbo at the foot of Mount Monti Cimini, serve visitors with an annual pass costing 25€ or 5€ for entry, 10€ for a 5-day visit. For this money, the complex is kept in perfect cleanliness and good technical condition.
The thermal baths have two pools with water enriched with sulfur. The water in the large pool ranges from +38⁰C and in the smaller one – from +18⁰C, wonderfully affecting blood circulation and skin rejuvenation. The thermal baths are equipped with showers, toilets, changing rooms, parking, and Wi-Fi. The complex has a bar with herbal drinks and children’s playrooms, allowing the baths to be visited with children.
Bagnaccio Thermal Springs

Located 8 km from the city near a volcanic lake surrounded by a thermal swamp. Thousands of years ago, the Roman thermal baths of Aquae Passeris were located here. The springs are rich in unique spring and lava mud, maturing under natural conditions for hundreds of years. The water contains calcium salts, magnesium, sulfur, and other mineral formations.
Among the natural bodies of water spread across the green valley, there are ones with temperatures ranging from +26⁰C to +65⁰C. The equipped thermal baths provide excellent treatment conditions. The relatively small entrance fee – 5€ allows you to enjoy a whole day of relaxation in healing water for little money.
The thermal baths have two large pools, one deeper for adult swimming and the other shallower, perfect for children. They help cure dermatological diseases and muscles, eliminate cellulite, and strengthen and rejuvenate the body.
Carletti Pools

The Carletti Pools are located on a vast scenic plain near the city of Viterbo in the Lazio region. The natural bodies of water, enriched with mineral salts, are available to everyone to immerse themselves in nirvana in the warm healing water with temperatures from +25⁰C to +60⁰C and feel the life-giving force of harmony with nature. The Carletti thermal baths have two drawbacks, which do not significantly affect their popularity.
The first is that they are poorly lit at night, so it is advisable to stay in them until dusk. The second is that the area around the thermal baths is not perfectly clean due to free use. The landscapes surrounding the thermal baths are especially beautiful in spring and autumn when the heat subsides, and the effect of the baths is enhanced by favorable weather.
Sorgeto Thermal Bay

The Sorgeto Bay near the village of Sant’Angelo on the island of Ischia can without exaggeration be called a free year-round thermal park. The thermal baths in the bay represent a unique cocktail of sea and mineral water with a temperature reaching +90°C. The water in the source is rich in bromine, sodium, iodine, and sulfur, which have healing effects on the respiratory tract, rheumatism, arthritis, skin diseases, and blood circulation.
It also helps overcome stress and strengthens the immune system. The special shape of the bay serves as reliable protection from the winds. Bathing in summer is illuminated by the sun, and at night in the moonlight, it becomes extraordinarily romantic. Bathing in such thermal baths should be done with great caution to avoid burns during low tide.
With proper bathing, you feel the phenomenal effect of the contrast between hot water and the cool sea. Before plunging into the Sorgeto thermal baths, you need to descend 250 stone steps and climb back on the way back. When heading to the thermal baths, you should consider comfortable shoes, especially in summer when the steps get very hot. To bathe in the miraculous bay, you can get to the bay from the village of Sant’Angelo by water taxi during the high season.
Grotta delle Ninfe (Nymphs’ Cave)

The town of Cerchiara di Calabria is known for its unique Grotta delle Ninfe, hidden in the rocks, where a natural pool with healing sulfur water heated to +30°C is located in a small canyon. The free water body created by nature amazes with its elegance. It is filled with water from several springs gushing from the earth’s depths.
It is especially pleasant to engage in therapeutic bathing in summer when the heat reigns everywhere, and the Nymphs’ Cave provides shelter from the scorching sun. The water temperature in it does not change even in cold weather.
The only difficulty is the road to the thermal baths. To reach the nymphs’ haven from Cerchiara, you will have to drive along a mountain serpentine. The thermal baths in Cerchiara, fenced off with a small fence, have two solarium platforms where visitors, smeared with healing mud, bask in the sun, and there are showers with mirrors and barrels of healing mud.
After taking a shower after the procedure, visitors plunge into a large pool with milky-blue sulfur water, which has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect for various diseases. The pool is divided into two parts by a partition, behind which there is a small shallow area for children’s bathing. The thermal baths have a bar, changing rooms, and toilets. The mountain surroundings create a favorable microclimate for treatment and relaxation.
Caronte Thermal Springs

The Caronte Thermal Springs, known for their highest quality waters, are located in Southern Italy in the Calabria region at the foot of Mount Reventino in the Sant’Eufemia Bay. Their healing properties have been used for over 2,000 years. The alkaline-earth sulfite and sulfate water containing arsenic from the source is used in the health center located in a picturesque park.
It treats a wide range of diseases: respiratory, musculoskeletal, otolaryngological, gynecological, and dermatological. Mud and massages correct the figure and eliminate cellulite. Wellness programs are conducted in baths, with hydromassage, inhalations, vaginal douches, gommage, ozone therapy, and other procedures.
The free Caronte thermal baths appear as narrow small pools at the foot of the mountain, filled with water heated to +39°C from the volcano. The enjoyment is enhanced by the magnificent landscapes that open from the pools.
There is a hot water pool located next to a waterfall, cascading cold river water from a height, refreshing the heated body, hardening the organism, and rejuvenating the skin. In summer, the natural thermal baths are not very clean, but during the low season, taking healing baths is pure pleasure.
Acireale Thermal Springs

The Acireale resort is located on the island of Sicily on the coast of the Ionian Sea on the top of the historic Timpa plateau. Its main natural wealth is the ancient volcanic springs mixed with underground sea waters at a temperature of +22⁰C. The Acireale thermal baths are famous for their vegetable-mineral mud formed by volcanic clay maturing in sulfate water.
The southern outskirts of Acireale are notable for the neoclassical complex “Thermal Baths of Saint Venus” with an elegant inner garden in the English style. The healing water in the thermal baths contains sulfur, bromine, iodine, and mineral salts. The second springs beat in the nearby village of Santa Caterina and are called the Thermal Baths of Saint Catherine of Alexandria. Both complexes effectively treat a wide range of diseases: otolaryngological, dermatological, cardiovascular, gynecological, and rheumatic.
They show excellent results in cosmetology. For treatment, balneological baths, hydromassages, mud wraps, aerosols, inhalations, sulfur water vapors, and cosmetic procedures are used. Experienced staff and modern equipment have placed the Acireale thermal baths among the best balneological resorts in Europe.
Granata-Cassibile Thermal Springs

On the island of Sicily, where the Peloritani mountain range extends near the Ionian Sea coast, lies the cozy ancient town of Ali Terme, nestled amid fragrant gardens and citrus groves. It gained fame for its healing Granata-Cassibile thermal baths, located right on the seashore, where salt-iodine-bromine-sulfite water at 39⁰C emerges from five underground sources.
Because of this composition, the local water is considered the best in Europe for treating respiratory diseases, muscles, rheumatism, joint pathologies, and allergies. Effective results are observed in gynecology, dermatology, and cellulite treatment. The use of a comprehensive set of modern wellness methods: balneotherapy, mud therapy, inhalations, massages, and hydrotherapy improve health in just a few sessions, filling the body with vigor and the soul with positive emotions. Cosmetic procedures with water and mud transform women’s appearance magically. A children’s department is also open at the thermal baths, allowing families to improve their health together with their children. The therapeutic sessions combine wonderfully with relaxing beach vacations.
