The cheapest food and drinks are offered to tourists in Kosovo’s Pristina, and the most expensive – in Oslo, Norway.
Many tourists try to save as much as possible during their holidays. However, it is often not enough just to find cheap flight tickets, and it is also important to understand how expensive the basic needs at your destination, including food, will cost you.
Travel booking platform Omio has identified the cities in Europe where eating out won’t drive you to bankruptcy. In particular, they examined the average cost of food, cappuccino, local and imported beer in local establishments.
Prishtina, the capital of the partially recognized Balkan country of Kosovo, topped the rating, where the average cost of lunch is 4.18 pounds, local beer will cost only 1.67 pounds, and cappuccino – only 1.02 pounds, Time Out magazine quotes the results of the study.
Also in the top three cities with the cheapest food in cafes and restaurants were two other destinations in the Balkans – Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Skopje (North Macedonia). And in general, the top ten was formed exclusively by cities in eastern and central Europe.

The authors of the study also presented a list of European cities with the most expensive food in establishments – here the top 10 was formed mainly by countries of western and northern Europe.
So, the most expensive food in establishments for tourists is in the Norwegian capital Oslo, where lunch on average costs 20.30 pounds, local beer – 8.83 pounds, and cappuccino – 3.70 pounds).
