The French region of Bordeaux topped the rating.
Wine tourism is quite common among gourmets, because such a holiday involves not only drinking your favorite drink, but also immersing yourself in the process of creating it and enjoying the surroundings.
The Emerald Cruises service studied a lot of Google reviews about wine regions in Europe to make a list of the top 10.
The leader of the rating is quite obvious. This is Bordeaux, a region in southwestern France that is home to a number of very prestigious vineyards and is famous for producing full-bodied red wines. Unsurprisingly, it has an impressive overall score of 96 out of 100, thanks to 112,063 five-star reviews for nine highly rated tastings, according to Time Out.
In second place was the Hungarian region of Eger, which boasts 16 highly rated wine tastings and is famous for its bold red dry wine Egri Bikavér (which translates as bull’s blood).
Third place went to Tuscany in central Italy, where they began to actively produce “Supertoscan” wines that mix its classic Sangiovese variety with others, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
The study also revealed which wine regions are currently trending, analyzing Google search data, and the Greek island of Crete topped the list, where the number of search queries increased by 400% in the last three months. French Provence came in second with 143%, and Italian Sicily came in third with 129%.
