The crowds are gone, but the sun is still shining: Six must-visit tourist destinations in the fall

In September and October, it is still warm enough for a comfortable vacation.

September and October are considered the perfect time to visit some of Europe’s beach destinations, as the summer crowds have already left, but it’s still warm, sunny, and dry.

The British publication The Guardian asked six different authors about popular tourist destinations in Europe (or near it) where you can go for the autumn sun in the near future.

1. Apulia, Italy. Autumn is the perfect time to explore the rocky coastline of this southern Italian region, which is dotted with breathtaking caves. The sea is still warm from the summer, but the crowds of tourists have already left.

2. Alentejo, Portugal. This Portuguese region has almost no major cities, and its idyllic beaches have once been a source of inspiration for artists. In the fall, it is still warm, and tourists have the opportunity to explore one of the region’s pristine beaches.

3. Corsica, France. In September and October, the streets of the historic cities of this island in the south of France are still filled with sunlight, but they are no longer crowded. In addition, the harvest season is in full swing, allowing tourists to indulge in local delicacies such as cheeses, sausages, and beverages.

4. Essaouira, Morocco. On the local long sandy beach, tourists have the opportunity to ride camels, as well as to go kayaking, surfing and horseback riding. At the same time, the African heat here is muffled by a pleasant sea breeze.

5. Ajarquia, Spain. This is the highest of the white villages of Andalusia, and its surroundings are dotted with caves, valleys, and ancient trails. And in the fall, you can enjoy all of this without the crowds.

6. Konitsa, Greece. This is not the Greece that many people are used to seeing. Here, tourists are greeted by forest-covered mountains, mountain rivers, and ancient stone bridges. In September and October, the weather is cooler, and the leaves on the trees gradually turn yellow and red.
