A rating of the best hidden European castles for a secluded holiday has been compiled. The list includes a Gothic fortress in Romania and two places in the Scottish Highlands.

Avis analyzed social media trends, Google search data, and TripAdvisor reviews to create a ranking of the “most magical castles” in Europe. The company analyzed 50 locks and named the top three.

Corvin Castle in Romania was recognized as the most secluded castle. It is located slightly away from the well-known routes, about two hours ‘ drive from Timisoara.

One of the largest castles in Europe-Korvin Castle was the place of imprisonment of Vlad Tepes, the prototype of Dracula.

Scotland’s hidden gems also feature prominently in the list of secluded castles. Eileen Donan Castle, located at the confluence of three lakes, was ranked second on the list.

Located on a tidal island, the castle is one of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks and dates back to the 13th century. However, it remains surprisingly little known.
