In the north-west of Malaysia, there is a fairly extensive island of Langkawi – there are about twenty more or less large beaches here, and many more small ones. Pantai Cenang
Where are the best beaches in Langkawi? One of them is located at a distance of 5 km from the airport. The beach strip has a length of 2 km, it stretches along the central street of the same name. The central road does not affect the quality of rest at all, since it is located at some distance and is also separated by a number of hotels. The main infrastructure is located on the main street: numerous restaurants are open, there is the best shopping and entertainment center in the resort and duty-free shops, travel agencies work. Chenang isn’t perfect, but it’s the best in the area, that’s for sure. The sand here is light, fine and incredibly soft. The entrance to the water is gentle, waves are very rare. The beach is clean, and although sometimes waves wash up garbage to the shore, it is quickly removed in the early morning. There are very few people, perhaps due to the fact that the beach strip is wide and long, and everyone can spread out and not interfere with each other.
Making a description of this beach in Langkawi, you need to say about the “live” shore: many small fish swim, crabs run on the sand, the water carries out a lot of sea stars and shells.
On Chenang, you can rent a sunbed under an umbrella for 15 rhinit. There are a variety of water attractions and entertainment, a lot of boats with parachutes and jet skis, but they behave carefully, and do not interfere with swimming.

Pantai Tengah
No worse is another beach on the island of Langkawi in Malaysia – Tengah. It is located south of Chenang and is separated from it only by a small stone promontory. It is because of this cape that it is impossible to pass from one beach to another, you need to go along the route past the aquarium and duty-free shopping centers. As on Chenang, a highway runs along Tengakh, and on both sides of it there are hotels, restaurants, and shops.
The Tengah beach strip has a length of about 1 km, it is divided into a northern and southern part. The city is not too crowded, mainly visitors to the Holiday Villa Beach Resort and vacationers from several nearby hotels come here. A little more people come to the northern part of this beach, the reason may be that there is the best water attraction in the area: paragliders, motorcycles,”bananas”.
As for the beach itself, the slope of the bottom and the entrance to the water here is quite sharp, but the influence of tides is much less than on Chenang. The sand is mostly yellow, although in some places there is also black, but in any case it is quite large. The beach is cleaned, but not too hard, in some places there is still garbage.
Tengah is one of the beaches with the best hotels in Langkawi. Among the most popular ones:

- Star Cottage Langkawi. On the territory of the complex there is a herb garden, next to a small minimarket. The cottages are within a 5-minute walk to the beach, while the oceanarium is a 15 – minute drive away and the airport is a 15-minute drive away. This is the best accommodation option on Tengah Beach.
- Villa Rumah Jah. The beach is just a 1-minute walk away, the oceanarium is 1.2 km from the villa, and the airport is 6 km away.

Kok (Pantai Kok)
Kok Beach is located on the eastern side of Langkawi Island, it starts in the secluded bay of Telaga Harbour and stretches for 2 km, then narrowing, then expanding and twisting like a snake. Nearby is the Oriental Village Park and the suspension road leading to Malaysia’s best attraction-the Sky Bridge overhanging the abyss.
Part of the beach strip is owned by Berjaya Langkawi Resort, and part is almost wild. In the vicinity of Kok beach, there is no infrastructure – even sun beds can not be rented – all life is concentrated on the territory of hotels.
The sand here is incredibly clean, however, as is the water. But there are quite a lot of boulders at the bottom, which is why you need to go into the water and swim with caution. - Danna Langkawi Hotel. This is the best option on Pantai Kok. The beach can be reached in less than 1 minute, and the cable car can be reached in 5 minutes.
Black Beach (Pantai Pasir Hitam)
On the north coast of the island is black beach, marked on all maps of Langkawi as a natural attraction in Malaysia.
In fact, this is an exotic place – a small area of dirty yellow sand with black flecks. Its origin is unique: this is not volcanic ash, as many believe, but to such an extent destroyed coastal rocks.
A tent with souvenir products, a modest playground for children, a couple of cafes-that’s all the infrastructure. Swimming and relaxing here is not very comfortable because of the untidy shore and muddy water, so the black sand beach can really be considered only one of the best attractions in Malaysia.

The city of Kuah is not designed to receive tourists on a seaside holiday-it is not the best resort town, but a business center located in the south-eastern part of Langkawi, 16 km from the airport.
But in terms of infrastructure, Kuah is better than other cities in Langkawi: there are many shops, a large-scale shopping and entertainment center with a cinema, a large selection of the most comfortable hotels in Malaysia.
Still, Kuah has plenty of places to swim: the beach is located at the end of the Legend Park, not far from Orla Square. It is quite small – it stretches to a sparse forest, where you can hide from the hot sun.

Rekreasi Kastam
This is really the best beach in the north-eastern part of Langkawi Island.
Very picturesque beach area, however, there is a road nearby. Comfortable bungalows are located on the beach – a great option for staying for a few days.

Tanjung Rhu

Tengkorak
This beach in the bay on the north side of Langkawi is the best for a seaside holiday in Malaysia. Its length is about 120 meters. There is plenty of room in the shade of the trees. It is always sparsely populated, but there are quite a lot of monkeys.
Pantai Pasir Tengkorak is cozy, calm, with snow-white sand and clear sea water.
Burau Bay Beach
Burau Bay Beach is located in the bay of the same name on the west coast of Langkawi, a short walk from Pantai Kok.
It is indeed included in the list of “best beaches of Langkawi”, but it is private, and guests of the 5* Berjaya Langkawi Beach Resort can relax on it. Although you can get to its territory like this:
- if you stop by and order something at a restaurant in the hotel;
- if you pay for riding on water attractions located on the beach;
- follow the path that goes through the nearby forest, however, it is difficult to find it.
All the life and entertainment of tourists on Burai Bay takes place on the territory of the hotel, since there is no infrastructure nearby.
Within walking distance from Pantai Burau Bay is a cable car that allows you to reach the best attraction in Malaysia-the Sky Bridge, which in an unusual way hangs over the abyss.
Datai Bai
Datai Bay Beach is located on the north side of Langkawi.
It belongs to two 5* hotels The Datai Langkawi and The Andaman a Luxury Collection Resort, and accordingly, only their guests can relax on its territory. The road leading to the sea and hotels is blocked by barriers, and security guards are present. And there are no other opportunities to get to the beach – everything is overgrown with impenetrable jungle.
